‘Her work is haunting, almost spiritual. With its heavy focus on vocals and on the lyrics themselves, Berne’s music is the kind that you want to stop whatever you are doing so you can focus not only on the aural pleasure, but also on the meaning behind it.’ The Sunday Times of Malta, March 2015.
Drawn towards writing dark, intriguing songs, Berne’s broad vocal range and arresting vocal delivery, offer delicacy and drama that lingers on. She is influenced by artists such as Regina Spektor, Imogen Heap, Agnes Obel and Sóley and having caught audience attention, she is inspired by the realities that surround us in our struggles.
Her endeavours in contemporary music drew her to front the award-winning indie band Bletchley Park topping the charts twice in her home country of Malta. Berne’s first single India was named best single release for 2012 by The Sunday Times of Malta. A recent video showing Berne playing Jamie Cullum’s piano at Camden’s Roundhouse was shared by Jamie on his official facebook page garnering 17K+ views.
