The Return of Carbon Based Lifeforms

The Return of Carbon Based Lifeforms

After a standout 2019 performance that still lingers in the memory of Malta's electronic music community, Carbon Based Lifeforms are returning to the island. On Saturday, 2 May 2026, Swedish duo Johannes Hedberg and Daniel Vadestrid will take over Liquid Club, San Gwann, for a night curated by Frekwenzi — the local collective behind some of Malta's most carefully programmed electronic experiences.

A Sound That Breathes

Few acts have shaped the modern ambient and downtempo landscape quite like Carbon Based Lifeforms. Since their debut in the early 2000s, they have become a reference point for producers chasing warmth, space, and emotional depth in electronic music. Their live sets are built to unfold slowly — organic textures drifting into pulsating rhythms, melodic fragments opening into wide, cinematic soundscapes.

This is music designed to be *felt*, not just heard. It's the reason their performances have landed in unusual, resonant spaces: the main floors of Ozora Festival, the domed interiors of planetariums, and even the vaulted acoustics of cathedrals.

Seeker — A New Chapter

The duo arrive in Malta fresh off their latest album, *Seeker*, a record that marks a subtle shift in their sound. Longtime fans will recognise the signature atmospherics, but *Seeker* leans into richer textures, more dynamic rhythms, and a more extroverted energy — the result of two decades of refinement rather than reinvention.

Expect a set that weaves new material with classics from their deep catalogue.
